Oceania is the general term for the islands of the central and south Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, and the eastern half of New Guinea. It stretches from the tropics in the north to the southern tip of New Zealand, Oceania can be broadly divided into groups of volcanic and coral islands. Australia (the largest island in the world) occupies more than 90% of the land surface.
